It started off with a flight to Calgary with my 48 Liter hiking pack. Paolo met Krista at the arrivals section of the airport and off they went to get the rental car. It was a 2-hour drive to get to the Canadian Rockies. The scenery was beautiful, to say the least, and it got better and better the more they got enveloped by the mountain ranges.

Iceland was our dream destination. But we thought it was one of those trips you take once you retire and you have enough money to indulge on things you used to just fantasize about. But then a seat sale came along and we started learning more options. We realized it was possible to turn this dream into a reality much sooner than we expected.

As a Siargao local, I’ve witnessed the surge in tourist numbers first-hand: from a tropical backwater to an internationally recognizable destination in just a couple of years. Although residents welcome new clients for surf lessons and increased work opportunities in resorts, we hope future visitors think about ways they can help us and our island develop sustainably.

I’ve always been curious about Kyrgyzstan, so when a friend posted that she is planning to travel to this country, I immediately sent her a message asking if I could tag along.
